"They Are Worthy" is a social media recruitment program on Facebook. We partnered with DHHS, Guardian Light Family Services (GLFS), St. Francis Ministries, and NFAPA (Nebraska Foster and Adoptive Parent Association). This partnership program strives to recruit foster families and CASA volunteers for our area. Our main goal is recruitment, but we are also informing people about our services and making them aware of the reality kiddos in out-of-home placements experience when there aren't foster care options in their home communities.
CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION
We will be partnering with 2 local agencies to put on programming for Child Abuse Prevention Month. Stay tuned for more information :)
FOSTER CARE ORNAMENT
A partnership with DHHS where we send lists of requested gifts to our Volunteers and Board Members. Our Board Members and Volunteers purchase gifts for children in foster care, and then we wrap the presents our team purchases.
DIGNITY TO GO
We dropped off rolling suitcases, hygiene kits, backpacks with items for toddlers, and diaper bags with items for babies. These will be used for children removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect or for those who experience a change in placement. This was made possible through VOCA funding and through some of our United Way of Western Nebraska
funding to provide direct support to the children we serve. Thankful for our supporters that make projects like this possible. Hoping it helps children going through challenging situations know they are worthy of love and that there is hope.
LIGHT OF HOPE
We collaborate with the CAPstone Child Advocacy Center to host our annual Light of Hope fundraiser. This past year we hosted a “No Show” Light of Hope event due to community health restrictions from COVID-19. Our event was incredibly successful, and we appreciate all of the support and encouragement we received from our area.
SOCIAL WORKER APPRECIATION
In recognition of Social Worker Appreciation Month we dropped off our cuddly CASA bear, "Case Manager" Hershey Bars, and note cards. We are thankful for the DHHS Caseworkers and Supervisors that work so hard to keep children in our community safe. We appreciate their work with CASA and their efforts to work towards reunification and finding children safe and stable homes.
In the past, we have helped DHHS with Adoption Day, but that was canceled for 2020 due to COVID-19.
